Adult Psychiatrist - Full Time, Part Time and Locum Opportunities

General Adult Psychiatrist to join 4 other Adult Psychiatrists and 2 experienced GP Psychiatrists. Work will consist of inpatient services and outpatient community work with well-established teams, and consultation for General Practitioners. The Psychiatry Team serves a North Vancouver Island population of 110,000.

Adult Psychiatrist

Seeking a Adult Psychiatrist/Site Chief of Psychiatry to provide medical leadership in inpatient services and outpatient community work with well-established teams and consultation for General Practitioners. The Psychiatry Team serves the 110,000 North Vancouver Island residents. The successful applicant will help facilitate teaching rotations for medical student s and residents in the Island Medical Program of the University of British Columbia.

Nanaimo - Adult

Acute services are provided at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, a 439-bed regional referral hosptial, which includes a 24-bed inptient psychiatry unit and a crisis stabilization unit. Community services consist of a mobile crisis response/walk-in clinic team as well as community mental health teams serving children and youth, adults and seniors. Sessional/contract funding is available and there is ample opportunity for private practice.Currently in expansion phase for adult, child/adolescent and tertiary mental health services to serve the Central and North Vancouver Island. An excellent opporutnity for individuals to become involved in this funded expansion of services.

Victoria - Geriatrics - Older Adult

An opportunity is available for a Geriatric Psychiatrist to work with our expanding Older Adult Mental Health and Addiction Service. The psychiatrist will join the 4 psychiatrists and 1 family physician working on our 40 bed acute and tertiary geriatric psychiatry inpatient units.

This service also provides consultation to the emergency room and medical/surgical wards at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. In addition, the psychiatrist will work with the outpatient programs which are currently being expanded. We are seeking a candidate interested in providing leadership in a comanaged program. New programs being developed for the Greater Victoria area include a new psychiatric day hospital, increased liaison with home and community care programs for long term care, team consultation liaison to long term care facilities, a new assertive case management team and an Island-wide tertiary psychiatric care initiative.

Teaching medical students in the Island Medical Program and possibly also teaching psychiatry and family practice residents would be expected. Application would be made for Clinical Faculty appointments through the University of B.C. Medical School and Associate Faculty membership at the University of Victoria.
