North Vancouver - Adult
We are seeking adult psychiatrists willing to take adult call, treat inpatients on one of our inpatient units comprising 40 beds in total, and see outpatients in the mental health clinics. Recruitment is based on building a diverse team of psychiatrists willing to do a variety of hospital and mental health clinic work. Some private practice is also possible. Remuneration will be fee for service, with possibility of some sessions. We are currently negotiating incentive packages to offer successful applicants. Preference for psychiatrists willing to commit to a Hospital oriented practice participating in call schedule and mental health clinics. Some private practice is possible if so desired, but are currently focused on improving hospital psychiatric resources.
Powel River
The community of Powell River is located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, 135 kilometres (88 miles) northwest of Vancouver. Forestry, tourism, mining and fishing are the primary industries here with high tech companies, home-based businesses, small manufacturing firms and marine services companies playing an increasingly important role. Powell River boasts an 18-hole championship golf course, an all-weather track, ball fields and a large recreation complex. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the numerous parks, beaches and hiking trails in the area. Powell River is known as one of the prime destinations for winter diving in North America.
As the Department Head - Psychiatry, you will be responsible for both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. You will provide services to MHC clients by consulting team members in individual cases and in case reviews on order to provide assessment and diagnostic services for treatment planning. You will also consult and communicate with other programs and/or agencies and/or health care providers and support workers.
Richmond - Geriatric
A Geriatric Psychiatrist is required to work in the older Adult team seeing clients with case managers, and doing outreach. This work also involves teaching as this facility is part of UBC teaching hospital network. The Psychiatrist will also have a UBC appointment. The team is part of the Deptartment of Psychiatry. Residents and medical students from UBC train in this program. This is very exciting work. Providing ECT to clients will be one of the responsibilities.

Seeking a psychiatrist with interest and experience in Addiction Psychiatry to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Opportunities would exist in training and teaching medical students and residents.
Vancouver - Adult (Locum)
Up to full-time locum employment opportunities for psychiatrists available in clinical treatment teams throughout Vancouver. Involves working in a multidisciplinary team with nurses, social workers, psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, consumer support workers, clients and their families.
Opportunities exist for training and teaching medical students and residents.
Spoken fluency in a second language is an asset.
Knowledge and experience with the concept of Recovery in Mental Health is an asset.
Vancouver - Child & Adolescent - 2 positions
Two full-time positions are currently available in several outpatient clinics.
Vancouver Community operates five different community-based outpatient clinics within the City of Vancouver to assess and treat children and youth up to and including age 19. We currently have a full-time position working in several of our outpatient clinics. Remuneration is through a combination of "sessions" and fee for service billings. The position involves providing direct assessments for patients/clients and working with a multi-disciplinary team in managing children and youth with persistent mental illness. We currently have a compliment of 12 child and adolescent psychiatrists, many of whom work with us part-time and hold other positions at BC Children’s Hospital or in private practice. You must eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia. Many of our staff hold clinical faculty appointments with the University of British Columbia and are active in teaching residents and medical students.
