Dawson Creek - General
Working with an established mental health team which includes 15 bed inpatient units, community mental health and tertiary care service. Innovative, integrated health care model. Flexibility for applicant to develop own interests and service.
Prince George - Adult (3 Postions)
Based at the Prince George Regional Hospital, the Psychiatrist will also have the opportunity for clinical and/or academic affiliation to the Northern Medical Program which began fall 2004.
Prince Rupert - Adult
Working in a community mental health team and in close consultation with family physicians (mental health shared care); provides patient assessments and treatment planning. Provides ongoing patient centered consultation and education to physicians and interdisciplinary mental health teams to advance effective treatment. Participates in provision of area-based continuum of psychiatric services including assessment of patients in the regional hospital observation unit, brief stabilization and discharge, transfer to the NW inpatient unit. Participates in service design planning and quality improvement.
Quesnel - General
Providing consultation and clinical services to Community Mental Health Programs and the Crisis Stabilization Unit, including the Observation Unit of the GR Baker Hospital.
Smithers - Adult
Working with established local and north west regional mental health teams, which includes a 10 bed regional inpatient unit, 20 bed tertiary care unit, 14 bed geriatric psychiatry unit, community mental health, residential program, outreach to other communities such as Wrinch Memorial Hospital, Stikine Health Centre and Houston Health Centre, referral to tertiary service. Collaborating in the development of a framework to respond to the mental health needs of First Nations communities is a key responsibility. Flexibility to pursue specific interests.
Terrace - Adult
Full range of community, acute, emergency, mental health services. One Psychiatrist currently serving community with four visiting Psychiatrists assisting. On-call to be shared with visiting Psychiatrists on a NW regional by videoconference.
